Why beams width is less to its depth? Beams depth is greater than to its width because it can bear to more load and develops less stress in it . This type of section have also more moment of inertia . It reduces the chance of failure of the beam section. It can be easily understand by the diagram given below. BBS :- BBS stands for Bar bending schedule. In BBS the cutting length of all bars like horizontal bars and vertical bars of all member are recorded on an excel sheet to give the record for the client of that project .
